In recent years, Fredric Lieberman’s research has focused on the music industry and copyright law and on organology, particularly with regard to taxonomic methods and systematic description.
Geographic areas of interest include China, Japan, Korea, Tibet, South India, and American vernacular musics from Tin Pan Alley through contemporary rock.
