Family opera: “Amahl and the Night Visitors”

This chamber opera is one of the most beloved and frequently performed operas in the repertoire, and families are invited to attend for free!

Gian Carlo Menotti's beautiful score will be played and sung by UCSC opera students and instrumentalists conducted by Nathaniel Berman with stage direction by Sheila Willey and Brian Staufenbiel, opera program artistic director. The first-ever opera written for television, this popular Christmas program was premiered live December 24, 1951 on NBC.

Two performances: 11:00AM and 2:00PM
(performance is approx 50 minutes)

Free and open to the public.
Doors open 30 minutes before curtain.
Parking: $4

Please arrive 30 minutes before curtain to allow time to park (and to take a shuttle, if necessary), pick up tickets at will-call, and be in your seat before curtain.

(Special note: the parking lot will be shared by patrons attending the 2:00PM performance of Tandy Beal's "Nutz Re-Mixed" in the Theater Arts Center.)

Late seating will be at the discretion of the management.
