Robin has her undergraduate degree in music from Pomona College, as well as a Masters in Piano from CSU East Bay and an MBA from UC Berkeley.  Before returning for her PhD in cultural musicology, focusing on the artistic, affective, political and ethical impact of ritual music in African, South Asian and Mesoamerican traditions, she had careers in high tech marketing, accounting management, and teaching music appreciation and world music at the University of Arizona.
