Join us this summer and learn basic studies in musicianship, related to Western European notation and literature. Students with prior training in music notation develop literacy in basic tonal melody and harmony. Skills include dictation and sight-reading. Simple composition and analysis exercises accompany the training.
Great course for students interested in learning the fundamentals of music theory. Studies include theory, development of ear, exercises in pulse rhythm, pitch and coordination. Dictation, sight singing and beginning keyboard skills.
This course is required for the Music Major, Electronic Music Minor and Jazz Minor (unless the student places out via Fall Placement Exam). It is also a great course for all those interested in learning/improving their knowledge of music theory.
This course has very limited availability during the school year so take advantage of enrolling now! Course is open to all students.
