Welcome to Advising for the Music Department!

We’re glad you’re here! It’s never too early to begin planning your degree path or to simply ask about our programs, classes or productions. If you’re not familiar with our program, this video gives a great introduction, as does our general catalog page. Check them out!

For Undergraduate Advising Questions:

Cory Graves-Montalbano (he/him) is the Academic Advisor for the undergraduate music program here at UCSC.

He is available throughout the year to advise on degree declaration and course requirements, courses offerings, to help you define your academic goals, to create an academic plan to assure timely graduation, and to assist with other bureaucratic petitions, etc., as well as to guide you to other appropriate faculty and staff as needed.

We encourage any and all current UCSC students to contact our peer advisor to ask questions, seek advice, and receive help to make informed, efficient decisions in our program. Our trained peer advisors are Music Department majors who strive to make your college journey a little smoother, and are available to assist student peers with:

Personal academic plans
Enrollment recommendations & troubleshooting
General questions about the majors/minors and courses
Declaration process
Major/Minor qualifications
