• UCSC University Librarian Elizabeth Cowell to retire
  Cowell has served in the UC Santa Cruz leadership for 17 years and more than 30 years in higher education. Associate University Librarian Kerry Scott will serve as Interim University Librarian beginning January 2026.
• New book explores social impacts, public health lessons from Peru’s fight against AIDS
  Assistant Professor Justin Perez's latest book focuses on local engagement with HIV prevention efforts in Peru during the early 2010s. During this time period, as global health leaders began to envision an “end of AIDS,” the course of the epidemic in Peru took a turn for the worse.
• Christina Ravelo named next Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
  Ravelo is a Distinguished Professor of Ocean Sciences and is currently serving as the Interim Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences. She has been a member of the UC Santa Cruz faculty since 1992.
