Peer Advising

We encourage any and all UCSC students to contact our peer advisor to ask questions, seek advice, and receive help to make informed, efficient decisions in our program. Our trained peer advisor(s) are Music Department majors who strive to make your college journey a little smoother, and are available to assist student peers with:

  • Personal academic plans
  • Enrollment recommendations & troubleshooting
  • General questions about the majors/minors and courses
  • Declaration process
  • Major/Minor qualifications

Advising appointments can be scheduled via email or in-person, see below for more details. Peer advising appointments are limited to current UCSC students. For prospective students, please contact our Undergraduate Programs Coordinator.

MEET OUR PEER ADVISOR for the 2023-24 year!

Xander Patnoe (she/her)

Xander is a third-year Contemporary Practices student focusing on composition and voice. She has sung in choirs for as long as she can remember, and this background has strengthened her passion as both a composer and a vocalist. She currently releases music as eclipse.xiv, a project which explores world-building through ambient soundscapes, sampled music, and original compositions. As she works on her B.A. degree, she looks forward to helping prospective and current Music majors find the track that works best for them.
