Gazebo Dances
Sunday, December 3, 2017 - 3:00pm
Music Center Recital Hall (UCSC)

The concert features Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano's ebullient Gazebo Dances, which celebrate the spirit of traditional public band concerts with genuine affection and postmodern wit. Jinrich Feld's Divertimento is almost a cousin piece to Corigliano's, having a similar sense of happy irony, but with a decidedly Czech flavor. Gustav Holst's Hammersmith and William Schuman's George Washington Bridge evoke a sense of place with their respective dedications to the New York and London bridges and the people who navigate them each day.
