"L'elisir d'amore" (The Elixir of Love) is a comic opera in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti and is considered one of the pillars of the bel canto style. Sung in Italian with English supertitles, this production is fully staged with beautiful costumes, sets, and lighting.
Elixir tells the story of the lovesick Nemorino who finds the courage to woo beautiful and wealthy Adina with the help of a "magical potion"—cheap Bordeaux sold by the smooth-talking traveling salesman, Dulcamara.
Performed by students from the UCSC Music Department's vocal program.
Sheila Willey directs, Bruce Kiesling conducts.
