Nelsen Hutchison is a PhD Candidate in UC Santa Cruz's Cultural Musicology program. He's presented research from his MA Thesis on the critical reception of jazz organ throughout the United States and abroad. His dissertation will examine the working lives of jazz musicains in the Bay Area and how they've been affected by the pandemic. Nelsen also performed regularly throughout the Bay Area prior to the Pandemic and teaches private guitar lessons and lecture courses on jazz, popular music, and the music industry for UC Santa Cruz and University of the Pacific. As the Teaching Assistant for Opera Workshop, Nelsen created the English supertitles, contributed to the program, and helped other production manage logistics.
